What is a CSA?
We’ve all heard of CSAs, but what exactly are they?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you sign up for our CSA, you sign up for a “share” of flowers in the upcoming season. CSAs provide an opportunity for you to invest financially in our farm at the beginning of the growing season when sales are lowest and operating costs are highest. Your investment in our CSA helps us to get the seeds, supplies and other equipment we need to get the growing season up and running so we can provide beautiful flowers.
While that’s technically what a CSA is, we consider ours more of a subscription service. Probably because I work a full-time job that helps with my farm expenses in the off season, and I can earn that back during the growing eason. So, in my CSA (The Petal Club), if you want to join later in the season, that’s totally fine. Joining earlier, however, helps me do a better job of know what I’ll need to grow so I can do a better job of planning.
All that being said, this IS agriculture, and as a Petal Club member, you share in some of the risks and rewards of farming without having to pull weeds, dig beds, fertilize, or water plants.
Here are some of the benefits:
The best part: you receive a lot of our beautiful flowers!
Your share is an investment in local agriculture
You know where your flowers are grown and have a personal relationship with your farmer … me! (And I’m pretty nice :) )
I’m sure we’ll come up with more cool things to offer as we move forward with the farm. It’s a really cool opportunity!
